Our children are learning and living in a community that is much different than that in which we were taught. It's the electronic age; the age of computing, communicating, listening, talking, learning, and the potential for sharing information across the globe. This is the 21st Century Learning Space.
In the Sandburg Tech Lab, we strive to teach students how to excel in what they're already learning - Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, Citizenship, Music, Art, and PE through the integration of technology. By supporting teachers and students alike in the never-ending quest of becoming technologically literate, we are preparing our students for a future in which they will turn to technology much like we turn to a newspaper or television. At some point in their 12 years of schooling, our children will have the opportunity to learn about world news not from a television or newspaper or even a internet newsfeed, but from other similar-aged children in a far-away country living that news.
Teaching students and engaging students in real uses of technology by integrating with their everyday learning will prepare them to play an active role in the ever-changing world of technology. There's a lot to be done, that's for sure. So, here at Sandburg, we're prepared to assist students in their journey through this 21st Century Learning Space.
