Flat-screen Monitors
Last year, the Technology Lab received 30 new flat screen monitors. We graciously thank the LPS District’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for this amazing gift. These flat screen monitors will greatly assist students in their learning. They will provide students the space in which to work from their handwritten drafts to their computer. Additionally this new technology will increase the comfort level in the lab by reducing the heat level.
Laptop Computers
Over the past 3 years the students of Sandburg have been very fortunate to have the use of laptop computers in their classrooms. We began with a set of 30 for the classes to share and this year we have acquired 30 more bringing our total up to 60. On average this allows one laptop for every 1.5 students per grade level. That is very exciting, especially, since we will be encouraging the students to use technology throughout the school day. Now students will have ready access to technology whether they are doing research on a subject, publishing a piece of work or testing their knowledge on one of our many web-based programs.
Document Cameras and Projectors
Thanks to Sandburg's generous PTO, we have escalated our technology in the classrooms by including Document Cameras and Projectors to allow the teachers to better utilize their time talents as well as giving students a cool opportunity to share their daily work live and large! It's so rewarding to see students take such care in creating their work, so that they can place it under the document camera to show their peers what they've learned.
Digital Cameras
Both the Library and the Science Center have cameras that will be used by students. This year, it is our hope to have the students documenting life at Sandburg through digital photography and then developing presentations using research, writing, speaking, and pulling it all together in programs such as MS MovieMaker, MS Photo Story, and PowerPoint.
