As Sandburg’s full-time Special Education Resource Teacher I work with students in kindergarten through fifth grade who need differentiated and/or individualized academic instruction. I love working with students who may have obstacles in their learning path. Each day brings achievement, overcoming challenges, smiles, and laughter. This is my 12th year at Sandburg and I have 23 years of teaching experience in special education, specializing in learning disabilities. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from West Virginia University and completed my Masters degree in Learning Disabilities at the University of Northern Colorado.
The role of Special Education Department Chairperson is broad in scope and allows me many opportunities to work with staff, parents, and specialists. I have served on district committees and have been the LPS Chairperson for Elementary Special Education Teachers for several years.
I had the good fortune to grow up in Connecticut and enjoyed much of the east coast for many years. My family moved to Colorado when I was in college and I am happy to call Colorado home with my husband (of 31 years, yikes!) and our son who is an Aerospace Engineering major at CU Boulder. Like most Colorado families we enjoy the outdoors, sports teams, and family activities.

This year is my 5th working at Sandburg as the school psychologist (if you've heard of "Mrs. E.," that would be me). In this position I wear several hats, providing social/affective services for and assessing children identified with special needs, but also consulting with staff and parents about general concerns regarding behavior and learning. My educational and professional history reflects my various interests. My undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College was in earth and environmental sciences, and I have Masters degrees in Geology (University of Kansas) and Educational Psychology (University of Colorado-Denver). My first career was as a geologist in the wild and woolly oil patch, but I've been working in schools for the past 20 years. My husband and I have three daughters: a recent college graduate, and college junior, and a 6th grader. When not at work, my time overflows with instrumental and choral music, gardening, biking, writing and family activities. There never seems to be enough time!
I'm at Sandburg on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday afternoons and spend the rest of the week at Peabody Elementary. Feel free to call or e-mail.

I am thrilled to be the new half time speech/language pathologist at Sandburg Elementary. I will also be the speech therapist at Highland Elementary half time. This is my fifth year working as an SLP in the Littleton Public School District. I received my bachelor's degree at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas in Speech Pathology and my master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Speech Pathology. I have done many things in my 12 year career including adult rehabilitation and home visits to work with families of children ages birth to 3. I am glad to have finally found a job I love, working with children at the elementary school level. I am so proud to be part of such a dynamic school community within an outstanding school district. I have so much fun working with students in small groups and in their classrooms helping them develop their speech and language skills. My family lives within the Littleton school boundaries and both of my sons attend Peabody Elementary. Colin will be in third grade this year and Evan is starting preschool. My husband Jason and I love spending time outdoors with our boys and 2 dogs. We enjoy everything Colorado has to offer! When working with students, I set high standards and expectations for all kids. I like to tell the students I work with, "Reach for the moon; even if you miss you'll land among the stars."

I graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1993. Since then I have worked in a variety of settings including rehabilitation facilities, acute care hospitals, home care, long term care facilities, outpatient services and preschools. I’m so glad to have been with the Sandburg Resource team for 3 years now. I work itinerant in the school district, so you will find me in many different buildings around the district. My job as an Occupational Therapist in the school setting is to enhance the student's ability to fully access and be successful in the learning environment. This can be done in a variety of ways including consultation with teachers and parents, modifying the classroom, putting adaptations into place, or through direct services with the student.
My husband and I have two children that also attend Littleton Public Schools. One is in Middle School and the other in Elementary School. Being Colorado natives, much of our free time is spent enjoying skiing, hiking, camping, swimming or just being outside in our beautiful Colorado mountains.

I am an Occupational Therapist starting my 19th year of working in the Littleton Public Schools and I now have the pleasure of working at Sandburg one afternoon per week. During my time at Sandburg, I go into the classrooms to lead movement breaks. These 10 minute blocks provide students an opportunity to move, learn strategies to help themselves pay attention, and practice what “best effort” feels like through movement or balance poses. I also teach strategies to help students pay attention and manage restlessness during testing situations, such as CSAP.
My husband and both children are graduates of the Littleton Public Schools, so this district is near and dear to our hearts. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. I have worked in a variety of settings through my 30+ years of practice, but by far, I love working with students in an educational setting. I love helping students understand themselves as learners and helping them be “in charge” of their own learning.
