March 3, 2010

Dear Parents,

March will bring an emphasis on Clouds, Water Cycle, Reptiles and Amphibians.

Math:  Please continue to practice math facts with your children.  Subtraction, money, and time seem to be the most challenging for first graders.

Due to CSAP testing in the building, for the next two weeks (3/ 8 – 3/19) specials will be held at the following times:

Monday – Music from 10:30 am until 11:05

Tuesday – P.E. from 10:30 am until 11:05

Wednesday – Music from 3:05 pm until 3:40

Thursday – Art from 2:45 until 3:30

Friday – P.E. from 10:30 am until 11:05

All recesses are from 10:15 am until 10:30 and 2:15 pm until 2:30

If you are a volunteer in the classroom on Monday, Tuesday or Friday, please feel free to come in until recess.  You may also stay and help me with paperworkJ As always, thank you for your support – I could not do it without you!!

We will start our insect unit in April with a trip to the Butterfly Pavilion on Tuesday, April 13th from 9:15am until 2:00pm.  The cost for the bus and admission is $9.35.  Please send in a check (no cash please) made out to Sandburg by Monday, March 30th.  I would like to have four parents volunteer for this amazing field trip.  If you are able to share part of your day on the 13th please contact me.

I am sending a list home of 100 frequently used words for your child to use for reference when writing a response for reading. They will also have a copy in their reading bag.

Have a wonderful long weekend!
